Cell lysis & protein extraction

Start with the sample and the next experiment. Explore the SB3 series as candidates for a method-specific extraction evaluation.

Series-level context

Get the sample you need for the next step

An extraction approach needs to match both the starting material and the downstream workflow. The supplied SB3 series material includes cell lysis and protein extraction as application contexts.

From starting material to the intended protein fraction

  • Protein
  • Formulation / membrane
  • Context / optional
  1. Define the sample

A conceptual cell containing different protein components

Identify the cell or tissue source and the protein fraction you need.

  2. Plan the extraction

A disrupted membrane with released protein components and a candidate formulation

Evaluate disruption and extraction conditions together; there is no universal formulation.

  3. Recover the target

Two sample fractions, not a prescribed separation or yield

Select the intended fraction. Clarification or further preparation may be needed.

  4. Check the next step

An extract linked to purification and analytical methods

Assess the complete method, including any cleanup or reagent-removal step.

Conceptual workflow. The disruption method, target fraction and formulation depend on the sample and downstream method.

Start with the sample
Define the cell or tissue source, the target fraction and the amount of material available. These requirements frame the evaluation rather than a one-size-fits-all reagent choice.
Define the intended outcome
Specify whether the next step is protein analysis, purification or an activity measurement. Record what must be retained and how extraction success will be assessed.
Keep the next experiment in view
List the buffer, sample-handling and downstream-method constraints before comparing candidates. A useful extract must meet the requirements of the next step, not just the extraction step.

Selection & validation

Choose candidates against a defined method

Use product identity and the required specification to build a shortlist, then establish compatibility in your own sample and method.

Confirm identity and grade
Compare SB3-12, SB3-14 and SB3-16 by their catalogue identity and available grade labels. Confirm the actual specification needed for your method; a grade name alone is not a suitability decision.
Record the evaluation conditions
Document the candidate, concentration, buffer composition, pH, temperature and contact time used in the evaluation. This page does not prescribe working concentrations or extraction conditions.
Check the downstream method
Evaluate the complete workflow, including any cleanup or reagent-removal step required by your analytical or purification method. Define method-specific acceptance criteria before comparing results.

Build your extraction shortlist

These three SB3 catalogue entries belong to the series described above. Review their identities and grade options as candidates for evaluation, not as prequalified extraction reagents.
