Evaluating the SB3 series for protein workflows

A supplied-context checklist for comparing SB3-12, SB3-14, and SB3-16 in membrane-protein work.

All resources

Define the workflow

Record whether the evaluation concerns cell lysis, protein extraction, membrane-protein solubilisation, stabilisation, purification, 2D electrophoresis, or a functional protein assay.

Use chain length as the comparison axis

SB3-12, SB3-14, and SB3-16 form a supplied series for comparative evaluation. Begin with the process requirement rather than assuming one member is universally preferred.

Plan downstream compatibility

Consider removal, hydrophobic interaction, micelle behaviour, and the downstream analytical method when defining the evaluation. Suitability must be confirmed in the intended workflow.

Record the decision

Capture the product, concentration, sample conditions, observed handling, recovery, and downstream result. Use the same evaluation criteria for each candidate so the comparison remains meaningful.
